Press Delete. ♥
July 3, 2008I deleted a couple DBSK songs off my iPod early today.
… My, was it ever liberating.
I honestly tried deleting more, but I’ve too deep an attachment to the others. *flails* And the funny thing is, I haven’t truly listened to a DBSK songs in about two-three weeks, so, really, why exactly are they still on my iPod, eating up space?
And then I soothed myself by downloading some Ajoo, who hasn’t improved by much since his debut, but whose voice, I’ll admit, no longer gets on my nerves. And yes, I’ll agree with a Youtube user that he no longer sounds like a 13-year-old on helium gas. However, he still doesn’t sound like an 18-year-old with 7 years of voice training.
Will reply to comments AND post up my prom pics when I get the chance, because as of right now, I’ve got the mother of all colds. IN THE SUMMER. (And yes, Beckery, you = friend ♥).
And because I love you all so much, and because my girlcrushing is at its optimum when it comes to Younha, I give you Younha’s Delete. Click. (And please, boys and girls, let’s not direct link, mmkay?)
IT IS SUCH A GOOD SONG, IS IT NOT? Well, yes, it’s poppy, but HOMG, DOES HER VOICE NOT DEMAND TO BE HEAPED WITH PRAISE?! LSM, you fail so bad when it comes to choosing your star celebs.
… Well, that’s not true, because you’re the ultimate win when it comes to DBSK, and Suju, and CSJH, and SHINee.
FINE, you fail a great deal at promoting then.
… Except, some would consider SHINee to be the smartest thing you’ve ever done when it comes to marketing+pr.
HOMG, you’re actually GOOD at what you do. Now, if only you could PROMOTE CSJH MORE, YOU FOOL.

YAY!!! I’m a friend!!! *dances in a cirlce* Can’t wait for your prom pics XDDD
LOL I have problems deleting music of my mp3 too! Even if I dont listen to some of the songs anymore, I cant seem to delete them. Its horrible when I just downloaded new songs/albums and want to put it on my mp3. I seriously spend ages deciding what to delete and keep =__=
Younha is awesome!!! Shes sooooo adorable <333 OMG you know what a really good song of hers is? “The perfect day to say I love you”. Its such a good ballad <333 “Comet” is good too!!
Anyways hope you get better soon! Get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluid XDD
I’m curious how you think SHINee is incredibly smart when it comes to PR? Although I will admit: out of all the artists (I think this will get a post soonish) that SM has debuted (aside from maybe CSJH), SHINee probably has the strongest vocals out of all of them (at time of debut). And yes, that includes DBSK… which kinda failed a little bit during their debut (homg, I was watching a “DBSK mistakes” clip and one of there was when Junsu forgot his steps while he was singing AT THEIR DEBUT PERFORMANCE. I was humiliated FOR him… even though fans are are like “awww… it’s so cute” I was like “IT WAS THEIR DEBUT!! HE MUST’VE BEEN MORTIFIED!!!!”). It goes without question that SHINee was stronger than SuJu (duh) and BoA (who had ridiculously easy songs).
Hehe. I’ve turned into a noona fan. They’re so tiny that I just want to scoop them up. THEY look like real Asian boys (not like Taeyang — oo,he’ll get a post too– or DBSK and their muscleys).
Becks
Haha, I’ll try and get me prom pics up soon. I just have to ask CC which hosting site she used for her pics and how she got the dimensions so perfect for her site. XD
I deleted MORE DBSK songs, which has caused me to seriously suffer from withdrawal, because I’m too attached to their songs even though I don’t listen to all of them, nor do I listen to them religiously. Honestly, I have them on my computer JUST FOR THE SAKE OF HAVING THEM ON MY COMPUTER. :] :] :] It’s sorta kinda ridiculous how undedicated I am, yet I profess to be one hardcore fangirl. *flails*
YES, I LOVE THOSE SONGS. Actually, I’m not as big a fan of “Comet” (I’ve heard it one too many times), but I LOVE “Inori” and “Delete”. They’re the ones I consistently go back to and listen to over and over again. Password 486, too.
My hacking is equivalent to a dog’s bark, both in volume and frequency. I’m currently addicted to coughdrops (Ricola = LOVE) and I’m trying to ingest more water. NOT.WORKING.
Nanshi!
It’s the whole idea that DBSK’s getting … a little too old for some of their fans. I mean, they’ve got some fans as young as 11 or 12, which imo, is really really young. Ergo, in comes SHINee – they’ve got YOUNGER members (not much younger, but definitely more suitable for twelve-year-olds) who are at the same caliber, artistically, as DBSK, if not better. Although DBSK and SHINee are VERY different in their musical styles (DBSK’s kinda all over the place, whereas SHINee’s more R&B+pop+alittleinfusionofBigBang), one could potentially label SHINee as the next DBSK (although he or she might be a tad too hasty in their … prediction), because honestly, they’ve shown they’ve got the talent, whether vocally or dance-wise. PLUS, they’re natural performers – none of them are camera-shy AND they’ve got good minds for memory (yeah, that Junsu blunder was, although hilarious for me as part of the audience, very embarrassing on his part, seeing as he’d been training for SO LONG at that point). Additionally, they debuted at the perfect time – DBSK was in Japan, focusing on their activities there, and ALL of the SHINee members were CLEARLY ready, talent-wise, to debut. Without DBSK still in Korea, ready to steal some of SHINee’s spotlight (continuously), the SHINee members really had the chance to go out and prove themselves, which HAS been done, and which HAS garnered them a massive fanbase, seeing as their talent has been VERY evident from the start.
… Suju has WAY too many members for me to even begin considering them musically. Yes, they’ve got some fantastic vocals (Yesung and Kyuhyun, anyone?) and some great rappers too (Eunhyuk and Shindong, I love you sooooooooo), but they’ve got tooooo many fillers as well. I mean, KIBUM. WHAT THE BEEFJAHFDH is he STILL doing in the group? I can’t even hear him when he raps. Let’s face it, he’s talented as an actor, but as a rapper, he’s … not exactly mind-blowingly awesome. Heechul, too. I KNOW he’s pretty and I KNOW he’s fantastic as an MC. His cracktastic ways are also GREAT publicity and hold GREAT appeal for the group, but really, his vocal talents aren’t stellar. In fact, I don’t really consider him as a singer, really, but that’s NOT to say that I don’t love him. His presence isn’t in the performances, but in his celebrity power and appeal OUTSIDE of Suju.
BoA … you’ve pretty much got her covered. Anyone who’s been trained as long as she has should be as strong as she is, in terms of vocals. The only factor that sets her aside from other failed performers is her amazing work ethic, and the fact that she never lets herself fail. And that makes her VERY admirable. (Yes, I read your post and I LOVED it. <3)
And homg, I second the fact that they look like REAL Asian boys. HAVE YOU SEEN THE LITTLE ONE’S ARMS?! THEY’RE FREAKING STICKS. He’s so skinny, yet so fluid when he dances. It kinda makes me squirmy.
… And yeah, they’re all really short. I think only one’s above 180 cm, which is cause for *gasp*age and “DARN, they’re not tall enough”.
Nanshi AGAIN
=P
… So basically, my point was: SHINee, by the time of debut, had the PERFECT (or close to) fanbase set up for them and just RIPE with excitement to receive them. DBSK = thing of the past; SHINee = the future.
… I love both though. XDDDDDDD
LOL, Cor. That’s what I thought too…!! I think I just posted about this (I can’t remember), but basically yeah: I think you’re right about how DBSK has a lot of little little fangirls and as DBSK is getting older, SM Entertainment is going to want to start to cater towards the younger fanbase(s) too. Big Bang is also younger than DBSK too (I was really surprised to find that out, but apparently the older member of Big Bang — TOP — is only an 87er too.. and in November at that… so he’s even younger than me!) and SM wants to satisfy the younger fans as well (and then all the ‘noona’ songs and ‘noona’ comments gets the …noona-fans too)… because let’s face it: we all feel more comfortable fangirling guys that are actually in our age range, true?
I think SHINee has done so well because SM Entertainment has really really really perfected their training procedures within the past few years and their scouting abilities are really top-notch now. Before, when SM recruited the now-DBSK and Super Junior members, they were still a relatively budding company. I mean, yeah, they created legends like HOT and Shinhwa and SES and FTTS, but they were still relatively… small and uncounted for. Not like now, where people are just lining up to join their company and SM really can pick the cream of the crop (in terms of looks and talent) for who they want to accept and who they can “mold.” It makes sense though, your observation considering DBSK’s long “hiatus” in Japan and SHINee’s simultaneous debut in Korea. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was SM’s master plan; after all, I think CSJH was supposed to replace BoA’s place in Korea, but they ultimately backfired because CSJH (as much as I love them) doesn’t… work for SM. Their style is too mature and their looks are too “old.” Not that the girls are old, cause they’re not, but then you compare it to the abnormal success of SNSD and.. yeah. Although I think if SM was to really just spend as little as six months genuinely promoting CSJH as hardcore as they do DBSK or Super Junior (during their album releases) or even SNSD, the girls could seriously show them what awesomeness and fans are.
I love what you said about SHINee’s performance charisma though. The one thing that sets apart Jang Ri In in terms of vocals is her lack of stage charisma. She just doesn’t have it. She doesn’t own the stage and she doesn’t perform well. She’s gotten better, but she’s not one of those born performers or those divas that can just light up the stage. SHINee, on the other hand, OWN THE STAGE. My goodness, they have enough charisma to light up Korea. And they’re so earnest and hardworking and young and I think that really is part of their appeal. The fact that they’re young and hardworking and tiny… my goodness.
AND LOL to Kibum. He’s attractive though! HAHAH. No, I agree. And YES! Thank you about Heechul! He’s great. Really, he is… but he can’t sing. Not the way Kyu or Yesung or Wook can (I’m so partial to Wookie now). He can act, but I think that’s only because he always gets the SAME character (the jerky confident braggarts) which are EXACTLY like his own personality (really, can it be that hard to … act like yourself?). And he’s really a hardcore jrocker at heart. Really. He was put into SuJu probably because of his cracktastic and charismatic ways, but I really think he’d probably be more suitable for TRAX instead. And frankly, Super Junior just has too many people. rawr.
ahh… fandoms are fun.
*oh no! I obviously forgot to close a tag somewhere. Forgive me?
NANSHI!!!!!!!!! ILU
ROFL, what’s there to forgive? I’m guilty of doing that ALL the time, obviously because I can’t code to save my life. XD
As usual, your comments are a joy to read. Ahaha, that sounds like such an old-lady comment coming from me, but seriously, I LOVE reading your comments, because you CONSISTENTLY have something insightful to say
which is why I’m so addicted to your blog too, even though I haven’t commented in eons. And I totally second that Heechul would make a FANTASTIC rocker. He’s really got at being spazzy on stage, as well as projecting (and by projecting, I mean screaming). And seriously, when he’s screaming like that, WHO DA FUNK CARES if he’s off-key? XDDDD
… You’re completely right – CJSH just doesn’t FIT the SM image. SM is very kid/youth/girl-friendly, and the girls have a really adult image – rather heavy on the smex at times, too. And seriously, I’m all for MORE of that, because a) they’ve got nice bodies, and I appreciate nice and toned bodies, seeing as I’m lacking one, b) they can ACTUALLY DANCE. No, not just dance – DANCE and c) their music just fits that type of image, so why not expound upon that?
Although I’m an SNSD-shipper (and thanks for not flaming me because I’m one. XDDDD Not that you would, right?), I’m actually puzzled as to why they’re so popular. Really, it speaks a great deal about the oh-so-evident dissimilarities between Asian and Western culture. I mean, here in Canada, SNSD would NOT make it AT ALL. Their music is WAY too cutesy, they’re not great singers at all, and they’re a frigging nine-girl group. I mean groups, unless they’re absolutely EXCEPTIONAL or amazingly magnetic (I’m talking Black-Eyed Peas magnetic), have a hard enough time making it on air and into the mainstream culture already, and honestly-speaking, people wouldn’t be caught dead listening to SNSD.
… Perhaps Asian countries are a little more … forgiving? Or maybe Western audiences are a little too harsh and unforgiving. But then again, we’ve got certain mainstream singers who’ve got terrible voices
HELLO RIHANNA, but massive fanbases, so who am I to judge?
